Summer Internship with JRM Advisers

The team at JRM Advisers knows Wisconsin. We’ve been involved in campaigns, media, government outreach and economic development efforts in all 72 Wisconsin counties with a history spanning nearly two decades. We have extensive experience working with business, developers, non-profits, state and local elected officials, and educational entities. From school referendums to grassroots campaigns, we’ve given a voice to important issues and developments around the state and throughout the country.
 Internship Location
758 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI
(Much of the work can be done offsite)
 Internship Summary
An internship with JRM Advisers will give you an entry-level view of public relations and government relations tactics and strategies. You’ll assist the JRM team on projects in public relations, public affairs, basic social media, and business development to clients that include bioenergy facilities, trade associations, research institutions, construction firms and developers, and alternative energy companies. This internship is unpaid.
 Public Relations Responsibilities
— Assist with writing and distributing approved press releases
— Update and maintain media distribution lists
— Assist with media relations, following-up with members of the media to track and ensure placement
— Assist with building press kits
— Assist with planning and executing events
Government Affairs Responsibilities
— Assist with research projects
General Office Responsibilities
— Handle office mailings and other daily operations
— Run errands as needed. Compensation for mileage applicable
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
— Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
— Be a dependable team player able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
— Have strong writing and editing skills;
— Be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be highly organized;
— Hold interest in government, politics, public relations, communications, nonprofit management;
— Ability to adhere to deadlines;
— Additionally, skills in graphic and/or design are an asset, but not required.
Essential Requirements
— Microsoft Office Suite
Intern must be available to work 20 hours a week during regular office hours, Monday through Friday. Most work can be done offsite.
