Video Production, Student Employee

University Communications, UW-Madison's central news and communications office, is seeking students interested in video reporting, video production, video graphics, broadcast writing or online video posting for a current opening on its video production team. This position is available 12/16/2011 and would run through the current academic year and possibly beyond.
Responsibilities of the job include:
•Working with the office’s Big Ten Network Project Manager and University Communications department staff to report, research, and help produce web segments/stories about UW-Madison that are of broad interest to the campus community, alumni and the general public.
•Finding and pursuing student focused stories that reflect the variety of student life and student interests, for use in a number of video applications, including on wisc.edu.
•Basic editing, file conversion and DVD creation for various projects;
•Videography, lighting, audio, editing and grip assistance;
•Supporting various online communication projects and special editorial projects
Applicants must be UW-Madison students in good academic standing.
Preferred candidates will have completed basic skills courses or have skills in areas such as tv reporting, journalism, basic television production, video editing and electronic news for Web and broadcast. Basic skills in news writing and reporting a plus.  Some experience in a video production setting, such as student productions, video/film classes, student radio or other internships, is also preferred. Familiarity with Mac platforms and basic video software applications is helpful.
Hours are flexible and negotiable, but ideally a candidate will be need to be able to devote 10-15 hours a week (in the office or around campus) Starting salary is $10.50 per hour.
