InternshipZizzo Group Marketing + PR + New Media is offering a public relations internship for spring 2012. This internship will offer the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on public relations work experience as a part of a team, invaluable project management training and constructive feedback while learning the skills that are critical for a successful career in PR.
The internship will offer the right candidate the opportunity to learn critical skills for a successful career in PR. You’ll work with a team of PR pros who produce award-winning results for a variety of business-to-consumer, business-to-business and nonprofit clients. We have a friendly work environment, a strong roster of clients, and a great team of colleagues. This position reports to the Vice President of PR and works directly with the Vice President as well as a team of PR pros and others throughout the agency on project work. For the right internship candidate, the internship will consist of -- but not be limited to -- the following:
- Exposure to a number of different clients and client project work
- Drafting and editing a variety of media materials including news releases, company fact sheets, bios, media alerts, pitch notes, etc. and compiling media lists using Cision
- Social media development and execution
- Pitching, media calls and distributing media materials
- Participation in appropriate client and team meetings
- Conducting media research and other research
- Attending media events and other opportunities as they become available
Job Qualifications
We look for bright students who have maintained GPA of 3.0 or higher and are passionate about a career in public relations as well as possess the following qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a college degree program (juniors and seniors preferred) or recent graduate with a degree in public relations, journalism, English or communications public relations (or relevant subject)
- Solid written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; knowledge of AP writing style
- Project management capabilities including organizational and prioritization skills to balance multiple projects and demands
- A self-starter and a team player
- Detail-oriented
- Professional appearance and manner
- Experienced user of social media applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat
- Compensation & Benefits
This is an unpaid internship position, but is typically structured for college credit.
