These two statewide programs receive federal and state funds, as well as other funding compatible with the ASC mission. Basic duties and responsibilities are to:

These two statewide programs receive federal and state funds, as well as other funding compatible with the ASC mission. Basic duties and responsibilities are to:
50% Support the Aquatic Sciences Center (ASC) and its Sea Grant Institute and Water Resources Institute research, education and outreach missions by serving as a member of the Communications section. Research, write, edit and produce a wide variety of information on Great Lakes and water resources topics and ASC activities for news releases, social media platforms, magazine articles, fact sheets, websites, booklets and other communications vehicles as needed. A majority of this work will be conducted in collaboration with program scientists, outreach specialists and institute staff. Strategize and implement various media relations efforts to further build water science literacy and highlight ASC work to varied audiences. Apply project management skills to ensure the creation of timely and effective communication products.
40% Prepare special ASC communications products and participate in preparation of special ASC projects as they develop. Such activities may include but are not limited to working directly with Sea Grant and Water Resources scientists, outreach specialists and staff to develop proposals for external funding, research/outreach conferences and educational/outreach activities. Assist in coordinating and carrying out federal and state required reporting obligations.

A search and screen committee will review all candidates and recommend a selection of candidates to the director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Aquatic Sciences Center. Those recommended will be invited to the center's Madison office for an interview.
