CSW Communications Intern

Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW) is an efficient, one-stop shop for social and environmental change. Each of our more than 60 nonprofits tackles unique problems, and together we create lasting change through grassroots action and advocacy.

This Communications Intern will support communications efforts, particularly social media, for Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW).

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency with social media, especially Facebook and Twitter
• Experience with website maintenance and updates
• Working knowledge of photo editing software
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications-including editing and proofing skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Can work independently, take initiative, and seek advice as needed
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work-and communicate effectively- with a diverse community of CSW staff, board members, member nonprofits, campaign sites, and donors
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced office and to meet deadlines

Duties

• Regularly update Facebook / Twitter with new content; frequency will be dictated by current activities
• Regularly scan Facebook / Twitter content of member groups for content to re-post
• Assist with regularly updating CSW Recent Results section of website, including photo insertion and resizing
• Edit material prepared for web updates, ensuring that the content and length are appropriate for Facebook / Twitter
• Use scheduling sites as appropriate to pre-schedule posts (e.g., Hootsuite for Twitter)
• Carefully proof all materials prior to posting
• Work effectively with Communications Director and follow CSW’s Social Media Plan
• Make suggestions based on your social media expertise

Possible Additional Duties

If needed, assist with Vertical Response e-news to donors, “Voices of Change.”

Compensation: $750 per semester; $500 summer

Hours: 4 per week
