Executive
Director, Race Coordinator, Race Chair
The South Central Wisconsin Race for the Cure is the largest fundraiser
for the South Central Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The Race hosts upwards of 11,000
participants, almost 1000 of whom are breast cancer survivors, and utilizes
approximately 400 volunteers. In
addition to being a 5K run/walk and 1.25 Mile walk, the Race is an event to
celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost, and raise needed
funds. 75% of the net proceeds stay in
south central Wisconsin to provide breast health and breast cancer education,
services and treatment. The remaining
25% funds the best breast cancer research nationally.
The Race for the Cure Intern will primarily assist the Race Coordinator
with messaging and marketing pieces necessary for the Komen South Central
Wisconsin Race for the Cure. As the
May 31, 2014 Race approaches, other logistical or customer service tasks may
be added. The Race Intern will work in
a team atmosphere and have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of
areas in a non-profit organization and major event planning. The time requirements are approximately eight
to ten hours a week. The scheduling is
flexible, and once trained, some of the hours could be performed away from
the office.
