DAIS (Domestic Abuse Intervention Services) is seeking a Development Intern to work 8-15 hours a week in collaboration with the Development Coordinator, Capital Campaign Coordinator and the Donations Coordinator. Expected work hours will typically be during business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), though scheduling can be flexible to meet the needs of the intern. This is an unpaid internship.
Development interns assist with DAIS-related event planning, fundraising efforts, and publicity. Interns provide support to the annual Celebrate Independence! Luncheon, staff tabling events, help expand DAIS’ presence online and in the media, and help with day-to-day administrative duties.
Responsibilities Could Include:
- Monitoring the local media for issues related to domestic violence
- Drafting press releases and media alerts
- Conducting grant research
- Assisting with outreach and event planning for our annual community luncheon
- Brainstorming and helping to implement creative community awareness strategies
- Assist in various events as needed
- Other outreach and development efforts as assigned
- Assist with collecting and organizing data, and other administrative duties as necessary
A successful candidate will have the following:
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Experience with campus and/or community outreach efforts and event planning (experience working with the media is a plus, but not necessary)
- Interest in nonprofit fundraising
- A commitment to improving the lives of people affected by domestic violence
- Creativity and the ability to think outside the box
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- A desire to have fun while changing the world
