Gathering Waters Conservancy, a non-profit conservation organization based in Madison, WI, maintains a Community Engagement Internship to help the organization advance its mission to help people protect the places that make Wisconsin special.  More information about the organization can be found at www.gatheringwaters.org.

This is an unpaid internship that requires course credit and a weekly commitment of ~10 hours.  The position provides a student with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the development of strategies, messages, and materials to help a nonprofit organization communicate the impact of its work and deepen its connection with the community it serves.

Responsibilities and opportunities of the position include:

-       Assisting in the development of outreach strategies to advance our mission

-       Advancing our social media presence and effectiveness

-       Researching and drafting conservation stories that communicate the impact of land protection, through blog posts, video production, and print media

-       Special projects specific to the intern’s skills and interests (e.g. organizing a photo contest, exploring video storytelling, developing media strategies, etc.)

Qualifications:

-       An appreciation for land and natural resource conservation

-       Strong written and verbal communication skills

-       Experience with social media

-       Relevant coursework to inform the responsibilities described herein

-       Upper-class undergraduates and graduate students preferred
