The American Diabetes Association is the largest voluntary health organization in the United States that is a resource for people with diabetes and its complications. The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes.
Intern Needed: Jan. 2014 - May 2014
Hours: 6-10 hrs/wk (flexible)

Tour de Cure is a major fundraising event for the American Diabetes Association. The ride will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at American Family Insurance HQ in Madison, Wisconsin. Tour de Cure is composed of five routes for different skill levels and is open to avid cyclists or recreational riders. Riders are invited to enjoy lunch and entertainment after the ride. The planning of Tour de Cure includes logistics, rider and corporate fundraising, rider and volunteer recruitment and creating publicity materials. www.diabetes.org/tourmadison
Duties:
* Take on responsibility of a major event role
* Required to attend the day of the event (Spring Intern)
* Assist with day of event logistics
* Serve on event planning committee
* Assist in promotion of event
* Assist in volunteer recruitment
* Create copy for website, emails, and social media regarding Tour de Cure
* Assist with calling past and present participants for registration, fundraising and promotional activity
* Assist in securing in-kind donations
* Assist at acquisition events (some weekend and evening hours required)
* Other duties as assigned
