Public Relations Internship

The Special Olympics Minnesota Marketing and Communications Department currently seeks a public relations intern. The PR intern is tasked with writing, distributing and following-up on press releases; writing articles and features for the website, publications and marketing collateral; monitoring media coverage; and assisting with marketing campaigns as needed.
The PR intern will have the opportunity to:
  • participate in department meetings and activities respective to their intern role,
  • hone and learn Associated Press (AP) style writing, and
  • attend events and competitions in a PR capacity.
The intern will receive an exit review/evaluation from department staff recapping their work and involvement as the PR intern. The intern will leave with a comprehensive portfolio.
Requirements
Internships are open to college juniors and seniors or recent graduates majoring in an appropriate field. Previous experience with AP style is preferred. Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. All Special Olympics Minnesota internships are unpaid. The PR internship may count toward course credits. The position is located in downtown Minneapolis and candidates should be count towards course credits prepared to take public transportation or pay for parking.
