Job Description:
The special event intern assists in planning four major events throughout the summer. The largest of these is Zoo Ball. For this event, the intern will assist in a variety of tasks including auction preparation and organization, registration and helping with set-up and take-down. The intern will help organize an auction for our annual golf outing, enter data for registrants for our overnight camping event, and work to solicit new corporations to form teams for our bike ride. The intern is expected to work at all four of the events. The intern will also assist our Publications Department to manage the photo database, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Desire to learn more about special event planning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- A positive attitude and flexibility in an ever-changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, as well as a willingness to learn other software programs.
- Candidates must have a car and be willing to work additional hours on nights and weekends for special events.
This internship program will begin in late May and end in late September to coincide with our summer event season.
Pay Rate: $9 per hour
Hours: 35-40 hours per week
Start date: Late May 2014
End Date: Late September 2014 (date flexible)
