University Communications and Marketing, the central public information office for UW-Madison,
is looking for a talented individual with a passion for social media and engaging the campus
community.
In addition to some writing duties, you will assist UW-Madison’s nationally recognized social media
program with account management, content and planning and research of best practices in higher
education social media. Previous experience with campus account management or #UWSocial is
desirable.
The position requires strong familiarity with platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter,
Pinterest, Instagram, Foursquare, YouTube and WordPress. This position is unlike any other student
role on campus.
Eligible applicants are limited to those enrolled at UW-Madison. The ideal candidates will have
undergraduate-degree work in journalism, English, public relations, strategic communications or a
related field.
Must be available 10 hours per week, with flexibility to account for the fast-paced nature of social
media. Though not required, the ideal candidate will continue in the position through the 2013-2014
academic year, upon on mutual satisfaction. Summer hours are also possible.
The positions requires the ability to work with limited supervision, proven writing and editing experience,
and familiarity with AP style, the Macintosh platform, and Microsoft Office Suite and OS X.
