Roto Sports Inc.
PositionInterns

DescriptionA Day at the Office of RotoWire.com:
We've got the baseball playoffs going on one TV, the Monday Night Football game on the other. We're cranking out the NBA Preseason Outlook for the Milwaukee Bucks at one desk, wrapping up Monday's NHL contests at another. Two editors are debating who is the better quarterback -- Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. An email comes in. It’s a subscriber asking whether he should start Dwayne Bowe of the Chiefs or Marques Colston of the Saints in his fantasy football league this week. It's a typical day at RotoSports Inc. If this is the type of work environment that interests you, we strongly encourage you to consider interning at RotoWire.

Students will improve their writing and communication skills and they will acquire first-hand knowledge of the workings of a small business. Moreover, we will help students develop their resumes, help them with references and letters of recommendation and help put them in touch with our contacts in the industry. Initially, there is no financial compensation, though some of our interns have ended up on the payroll down the road as their duties expanded.
DutiesUpdate breaking sports news, contribute feature articles for all four major team sports (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL), sports database work, team beat writer for one or two professional teams.
Hours1-2 days per week (8-12 hours total)
QualificationsAvid sports fan, preferably with some fantasy sports experience; strong writing skills; basic Internet and PC skills. Applicants must be avid sports fans and have good writing skills because the Assistant Sports Editors we hire do real and substantive work. You won't be spending your hours here filing and getting coffee for people. You will be writing about sports, learning how our small sports publishing business runs and dealing directly with our customer base.

How to ApplyApplication materials: Cover letter/resume/clips if available.
DeadlineOngoing.
