Description:
The Department of Radiology is looking for a student to work 10-20 hours per week assisting the SMPH Radiology Media Specialist with researching and writing news articles, graphic design and web programming. Scheduling is flexible but requires availability between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Start date is January 2013. Primary Duties:
Assist the Senior Media Specialist with:
Gathering information and writing news items for web site and dissemination to campus and local news outlets.
Coordinating and producing a quarterly department newsletter, including copywriting, editing, and layout, and distribution.
Performing basic updates to UWSMPH Radiology website including editing text, updating PDF/Excel files, and updating web database content.
Working with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and PowerPoint templates to:
Create/proof and print poster advertisements for lectures
Layout and prepare large conference posters for printer
Design brochures and ads, as needed
Contacting web content providers to request updates to out-of-date content.
Working with University printers through completion of print work.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Excellent writing, editing, and organizational abilities.
Ability to track tasks independently and communicate workflow.
Comfortable in Microsoft Office, Adobe graphic design software including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.
Ability to present complicated scientific ideas for all audiences.
Any skills in HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, MySQL are a bonus.
Work Environment:
Office setting with 9 co-workers located in the Clinical Science Center building (UW Hospital & Clinics, 1st Floor, Radiology Department, 600 Highland Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin).
