15-20 hours per week; flexible Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday and evenings during academic year. Occasional Saturday and weekend work, and tull-time during summer.
Duties include but are not limited to: IT support for precollege programs;manage online communities including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube; data entry and analysis; website editing; assitsing with programs in-office or on-site; graphic design layout and creating brochures, flyers, email templates, and other promotional materials; creation of fillable PDFs and survey tools; computer lab troubleshooting and setup.
Qualifications: Must be dependable, highly organized, detail oriented, have excellent problem solving skills, and have the desire and ability to work comfortably in a team atmosphere. Be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (esp. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), be proficient in the use of web browers and website design. Ability to work in graphics (Adobe Suite and InDesign) software or familiarity with online learning platforms a plus. Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, JavaScript, and iMovie. Experience with digital photography and organization of digital images. Must be comfortable with both MAC and PC computer systems. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid drivers license required with minimum 2 years experience.

The Department of Radiology is looking for a student to work 10-20 hours per week assisting the SMPH Radiology Media Specialist with researching and writing news articles, graphic design and web programming. Scheduling is flexible but requires availability between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Start date is January 2013. Primary Duties:
Assist the Senior Media Specialist with:
Gathering information and writing news items for web site and dissemination to campus and local news outlets.
Coordinating and producing a quarterly department newsletter, including copywriting, editing, and layout, and distribution.
Performing basic updates to UWSMPH Radiology website including editing text, updating PDF/Excel files, and updating web database content.
Working with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and PowerPoint templates to:
Create/proof and print poster advertisements for lectures
Layout and prepare large conference posters for printer
Design brochures and ads, as needed
Contacting web content providers to request updates to out-of-date content.
Working with University printers through completion of print work.
 
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Excellent writing, editing, and organizational abilities.
Ability to track tasks independently and communicate workflow.
Comfortable in Microsoft Office, Adobe graphic design software including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.
Ability to present complicated scientific ideas for all audiences.
Any skills in HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, MySQL are a bonus.
 
Work Environment:
Office setting with 9 co-workers located in the Clinical Science Center building (UW Hospital & Clinics, 1st Floor, Radiology Department, 600 Highland Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin).

Event Intern

The Event Coordinator provides administrative support for Executive Director and Foundation staff in planning and executing meetings and events. Responsibilities include assisting with all logistics and details for the Foundation’s Annual Fundraising Event and Silent Auction and other events. This is a limited-term paid position, available mid-December–April, offering an average of approximately 15-18 hours per week for about 18 weeks. The student must be available the entire day on April 12, 2013 (this is Friday, the day of our event, from approximately 10 a.m. until approximately 10 p.m.) This position pays $10/hour.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
1.      Support goals and objectives of events
2.      Apply meeting industry business practices to activities
3.      Participate in coordinating key event activities including:
·          Facility and catering function sheets and contracts
·          Event print materials, guest lists, table assignments, and nametags
·          Speaker logistics
·          Audiovisual requirements
·          Food and beverage requirements
·          Décor of dinner, pre-reception, registration and silent auction for a consistent look
4.      Assist in working with vendors, facility and internal staff to coordinate logistics
5.      Assist in coordinating event volunteers
6.      Coordinate silent auction donation requests and track donations received
7.      Participate in the pre-event meetings and post-event evaluation and follow-up activities
 
EDUCATION
Post-secondary course work in meetings management or related subject matter. High school diploma or equivalent required.
 
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1.      Professional verbal and written communication skills and telephone manner.
2.       Attention to detail
3.      Proficiency with Word and Excel required. PowerPoint experience preferred.
4.       Prior work experience in an office environment and/or event experience preferred.
5.       Ability to work compatibly and interact professionally with colleagues, physicians, vendor staff
6.      Effective time management skills for handling multiple priorities.

Internships Available with Assembly Democrats 

Several Democratic Assembly member offices are currently looking for students interested in 
interning in the State Capitol this semester. These internships are unpaid but will provide 
valuable political and communication experience and helpful insight into state government. You 
will also have the opportunity to meet Assembly leadership, and these internships are a great 
chance to network.  

Tasks associated with a Democratic Assembly internship are listed below. 

Constituent Services: Draft letters responding to constituents’ policy concerns, work with 
different state agencies to help constituents with any state-related problems. 

Press: Track local media sources for references to state and local politics of interest, prepare 
press releases, editorials, and help write the legislative e-newsletter. 

Data Entry: Work with our computer database to enter incoming constituent contacts and track 
constituent opinions. 

Legislative Research: Research current and future bills. 

We are looking for candidates who can dedicate at least 8 hours per week to the internship, so 
we can assign meaningful and worthwhile projects. For most offices, internships will begin the 
second week of January and would expect you to stay on for the duration of the semester. If 
you will be in Madison over winter break and would like to start earlier, please note that on

Social Media Intern

The Fit is a locally owned and operated fitness studio specializing in unique, small group training.  The Fit is in its ground stages and has relied on word of mouth for marketing until this point.  The Fit has a presence on social media including Facebook and Twitter.
The marketing and social media intern will be responsible for the following:
