Communications Student Intern; UW Colleges and UW-Extension

Applicants should be college or university students with junior, senior or graduate student standing for fall 2012. 2. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Ideally, applicant loves working with language and wants to use it effectively to communicate clearly and to share compelling stories. 3. Technical familiarity with social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Flickr. 4. Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. 5. Willingness to try new things and problem solve to resolve snags that arise. 6. Experience working in teams and working independently within deadlines. 7. Enthusiasm for social media, video, photography. 8. Aptitude to be trained in Animoto, Flickr, Google Analytics, etc. 9. Ability to be approved to drive state cars or have access to reliable transportation as some assignments will be outside Madison. University Communications, the central public information office for UW-Madison, is looking for a talented student to serve as an online editor for an upcoming project.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience creating and/or editing a print or online publication, strong organizational skills and a desire to find and develop content that will be compelling, useful and engaging to his or her fellow students.
In addition to some writing and copyediting duties, the editor will be expected to keep in touch with student-related developments via social media, blogs and in the local media.

The Assembly Democrats internship; message from Intern Coordinator

The Assembly Democrats are currently filling positions for summer interns, and I am hoping that you will let your membership know. We are looking for students that are available for at least 8 hours/week and are interested in state government, politics, or communications. Interns will be placed with the office that best fits their interests and strengths. Most offices will need help Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm.

Internships are unpaid but will provide valuable experience and helpful insight into state government. They also create an opportunity to meet Assembly leadership and build a network in Madison politics.
