Creative Communications Internship!

UW-Extension Conference Centers (ECC) is looking for an intern to work 10 hours a week! The schedule is flexible, but will require some business hours Monday-Thursday.

We are seeking a sharp, energetic and reliable student who is able to work collaboratively and independently. The Creative Communications Intern will work closely with the Marketing Director to prepare materials for print, email and our website. Under the direction of ECC's Marketing Director, the intern will be the social media manager.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of a small, hands-on team! You will work closely on ECC's core marketing and communications initiatives, learn a variety of marketing techniques and develop a diverse portfolio. Moreover, we would like to hire someone interested in a longer term internship, so you will be able to grow, learn and take on a variety of projects.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in graphic design, communications or journalism are preferred
  • interest in marketing
  • a sense of design
  • Hands-on experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Proficiency in HTML
  • Basic knowledge of photography principles
  • detail oriented
  • exceptional communication skills
  • ability to work on many projects simultaneously
  • prior office experience is preferred
The Work
  • Design through production of creative content for print and web
  • Produce ads, postcards, event materials, etc. and prepare them on the web
  • Create and publish content online and in print
  • Contribute to ECC social media accounts regularly and strategically
  • Research social media best practices and suggest changes to the strategy
  • Use analytics to evaluate social media campaigns to identify and reach ECC's audience

  • Buildings include the Pyle Center and the Lowell Center on Lake Mendota and in the heart of UW-Madison Campus
