SOAR Intern

This is a spring & summer internship opportunity working with the SOAR program.

The SOAR Advising Intern supports the academic advising functions of the SOAR program; it is a highly independent position that works with the daily logistics of the SOAR Advising office, program support, and Peer Advisor training. If you are interested in learning about how a large nonprofit like UW-Madison works within the systems in place on campus, trains student staff, communicates information to a wide internal audience, and more, this position could be a great fit for you!

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about large-scale event planning, program logistics, operations management, staff training, community-building, leadership, and much more! PR & Social Media Intern - Spring 2016

The primary responsibility of this part-time position is to assist the CB&A staff with the day-to-day activities that are required for the successful operation of the business.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Account Executives, Account Managers and Account Coordinators as required in completing assigned client projects. Specific duties will vary, but may include news release writing, developing and executing social media content, media list development, research and report writing.
  • Provide clerical support between major PR assignments. As the main company assest is information, the maintenance of error-free, up-to-the-minute information is a critical success factor of the business.
  • Assist with assorted company projects, which may include news releases, media kits, invitations, product updates, pre-and post-conference mailings, blog posts and holiday greetings.
  • Display a high level of integrity by maintaining the confidence of proprietary information. Protect all tangible and intangible company assets including proprietary software and databases
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Intermediate class work in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to foster teamwork and thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Skills and Competencies
  • Experience writing/editing press materials, including news releases, feature stories, alerts, etc.
  • Proficient in Twitter, Facebook and other social media tools
  • Prior internship experience is a plus

PR and Marketing Internship!

Two Men and A Truck in Madison, Wis., is seeking a PR and Marketing intern to assist with a wide variety of tasks including:
  • developing short articles about real estate, moving tips and office news to be used in our newsletters and on our internet page

Spring Internship in Los Angeles

Spend your Spring Semester in Los Angeles through ACM Internships!

We are looking for bright, fun, hard-working students who love country music and want to see the music entertainment business first-hand. The Academy of Country Music is celebrating the 51st Anniversary of the ACM Awards in 2016, and Country Music's Party of the Year is brining a whole weekend of fun to Las Vegas! The music starts on April, 1, 2016, with ACM Party For a Cause Festival - a three-day all-star concert series at Las Vegas Festival Grounds featuring your favorite artists. The weekend festivities lead up to the 51st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards and All-Star Jam, the official ACM After Party.

Internship Duties

The chosen candidates will work closely with the Academy staff in one of the following departments: Event Management, Operations, Public Relations and Marketing, Lifting Lives (our charity), Social Media, Creative and Content Production and additionally complete general administrative duties.

Internships will start in early-January and run through late April 2016 and will include a 10-day stay in Las Vegas with hotel, travel and meals provided. Candidates may receive credit for their participation and a weekly stipend for a portion of the internship. We are interested in Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors with majors in Business, Communications, Entertainment Management, Journalism, Marketing, Music Management, Non-profit Management, Public Relations, Social Media or Video Production.

Social Media Intern

WCCN is looking for a part-time intern based in Madison, Wisconsin.

Do you tweet, share and post to social media in your sleep? Do you know what it takes to grow an online community? We're looking for a social media intern to manage our social media accounts by implementing strategies and tactics that grow our followers, engage and retain them, and help convert them into donors, investors and advocates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the company's social media profiles and presence including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and additional channels that may be deemed relevant
  • Create shareable content appropriate for specific networks to spread both our brand and our content
  • Come up with an editorial schedule for future social media content
  • Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about our non profit, competitors and industry, both from existing leads and customers as well as from brand new audiences
  • Run regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success (Twitter chats, LinkedIn discussions, etc.)
  • Work alongside the content creation staff to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience and supports marketing goals
  • Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence
  • Explore new ways to engage and identify new social networks to reach our target buyers
  • Track, measure and analyze all initiatives to report on social media ROI
Ideal Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media with a command of each network and their best practices

  • Bonus experience and skills include Adobe Creative Suite, Apple products, demand generation, inbound marketing and blogging
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work independently
This is a part-time, hourly (10-20 hr/week) unpaid position that operates during normal business hours during the Fall 2015 school semester. Actual hours within a regular schedule can be determined after hire and the internship can be extended to suit the intern's needs. This work can be done for course credit. While some work can be done remotely, this position will be at least 50% onsite. This position reports to the Investor Relations and Communications Manager.
